About the role
Reporting to the Company’s Laboratory Superintendent, an exciting opportunity exists for a Laboratory Assistant to join the Syrah team based in Vidalia, Louisiana.
This role is responsible for is to assist and support the Laboratory Technician in performing all the required analysis for product QAQC.
Areas of focus are tapped density, particle size distribution, XRF, sample splitter, % moisture, and % ash analysis.
Key role responsibilities include:
Prepare dry samples to conduct tests and experiments.
Support the Lab Technician during the shifts, preparing samples and running analysis as trained
Clean and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment in proper working conditions.
Conduct quality control tests to ensure product is not out of specifications.
Order laboratory supplies and chemicals, keeping an eye on expiration dates.
Ensure compliance with laboratory health and safety guidelines.
Any other duties as reasonably directed by the Laboratory Technician.
Contribute to site EHS and ESG performance by engaging and working collaboratively at all levels.
Comply with company’s Policies, Corporate Safety, Health & Environmental rules, and Code of Conduct always.
Performing analyses such: Tap density, XRF, Particle size distribution, Sample splitting, % Moisture and % Ash.
Follows the Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures.
Desirable skills and experience include:
High School degree
No previous experience as laboratory assistant.
Laboratory work is a plus.
Basic computer skills and able to operate electronic and mechanical equipment.
Attention to details.
Have the necessary motivation to work in a laboratory setting.
Have initiative.
Able to lift 50 lbs.
Ability to work in a team environment and share information as required.
Ability to pass a pre-employment medical assessment and background check.
