*GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: * The Group Home Nurse is responsible for coordinating medical services for all group home clients and for providing for all nursing needs of group home clients.
*PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:*
Employee must be able to perform the assigned duties without significant risk of substantial harm to his/her safety/security and the safety/security of others.
I.
*Medical, Nursing, Client Care and Treatment.
*
Prepares infection control reports for presentation to St.
Mary’s specially constituted committee.
Directs employees concerning the care of the group home clients concerning documentation, equipment, and environmental, health and safety conditions.
Ensure that physicians’ orders for group home clients are carried out accurately and correctly.

Review group homes clients’ medical charts for accuracy and completeness.

Consults with Group Home Supervisors regarding health of group home’s clients, physician appointments, recommendations, etc.
Enforces state, federal, and Title XIX regulations in all areas of nursing and residential living.
*II Leadership:*
Works collaboratively and cooperatively with all other departments on St.
Mary’s campus.
Monitors and reports the behavior problems of individual clients in accordance with St.
Mary’s, state and federal guidelines.
Protects clients’ rights and reports all cases of suspected abuse and neglect according to procedures established by Louisiana Law and St.
Mary’s Residential Training School.
Reports missing clients immediately and initiates appropriate procedures.
Ensure the provision of high quality nursing care for the intellectually disabled population.
Participates in the Human Rights Committee and attends meetings as scheduled.
*PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:*
· *Language: * Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
Ability to respond effectively to professional staff, paraprofessional staff and direct care staff.
Ability to present information to groups using original or innovative techniques or style.
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
· *Education and/or Experience: *Must be a board certified Licensed Practical Nurse, with at least 3 years of experience in providing nursing services to the developmentally disable population.
· *Reasoning Ability: *This position requires latitude for independent judgment and thinking based on education, training and experience.
Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritizes work, and meets deadlines.
Ability to define problems, collects data, establish variables, and tot design working systems taking these variables into account.
Ability to understand and evaluate the validity of conflicting points of view, to perceive underlying causes of faulty processes, and to anticipate the possible ramification of actions or changes in the work environment.
· *Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: *Valid driver’s license; Must be a board certified LPN
· *Other Skills or Abilities: * Able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Therap and other computer programs.
Good telephone skills.
