Mercy Behavioral Hospital is searching for a full-time Activities/Recreational Therapist to work within an acute psychiatric setting providing group and individual activity/recreational therapy to individuals receiving treatment for psychiatric and/or substance abuse issues.
Must possess the ability to work independently and communicate issues effectively within a multidisciplinary setting is a necessity.
*Position Overview*-Under supervision of the clinical director, develop and implement therapeutic activity programs for patients served within an acute psychiatric facility.
Serve as a member of the treatment team.
Formulate treatment plans, write program notes, make detailed analysis and evaluation of assigned individual needs and their responses to.
Serve as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and shares observations and progress of patient(s) with team as needed.
Plan, organize and direct activities according to individual treatment plan(s); complete activity therapy assessment(s) and compile evaluation data for the development of habilitation plan(s); evaluate complex behaviors and reactions relative to individual(s) served reaction with activities and leisure time; establishes and coordinates types and schedules of activity programs.
*Job Responsibilities*
1.
Develop and implement direct therapy and therapeutic activity programs.
Plan, organize, and direct activities according to individual treatment plan(s).
2.
Serve as a member of the treatment team.
Formulate treatment plan(s), write program notes, make detailed analysis and evaluation of assigned individual needs and their responses to treatment and formulate realistic discharge plan(s).
Gather, organize, and present this information to the treatment team.
Make and receive recommendations regarding treatment for individual(s) served.
Incorporate suggestions received into the individual treatment plan(s) developed for individuals.
Assist other team members in developing plan(s) for assigned individual(s).

Complete assessments on assigned case(s), implementing therapeutic modalities, and documenting such as determined by regulatory guidelines and departmental policy and procedures.
Conduct activity assessment(s) on newly admitted individual(s).

Coordinate and maintain supplies for activity needs.
Collaborate with staff and use good judgement to ensure materials will not be hazardous to patient health or safety of patients or staff.
5.
Monitor and maintain adequate resources and verify a safe environment for individual(s) served and staff.
Comply with all departmental and facility policy/procedures and meet all regulatory agency standards.
6.
Assist in providing in-service training for both activity and non-activity staff.
7.
Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

License/Certification:
