Job Description
Answers the phones and relaying messages, as necessary.
Scheduling diagnostic tests, such as, imaging, biopsies, labs, and follow-up appointments
Pulls imaging, scans, and hospital data from other hospitals.
Maintains OncoEMR schedules daily.
Collates all lab results from various clinics to streamline patient medical records and display necessary results for physician review.
Obtains pre-authorizations on all medical procedures and diagnostics, where required (e.
g.
PICC Line, Echo, imaging, PFT, etc.
).
Collects patient demographics, data entry, insurance verification and demographics collection, as well as relaying messages and other important information to staff and physicians onsite.
Assembles patient’s charts for same day and next day visits and answers procedural questions, as needed.
Updates OncoEMR for all patients and manage “no shows” while confirming all the relevant information related to medications, recent medical events, hospital visits, and hospital admissions.
Processes all release of information requests in a timely, efficient and accurate manner, providing customers with the highest quality product and customer service.
Safeguards and protects the patient's right to privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to the patient's medical information and that all releases of information are in compliance with the request, authorization, company policy, HIPAA regulations, and state/federal regulations as it relates to operation.
Completes forms such as disability, FMLA, attending physician statements, cancer policies, etc.
Cross-trains to cover front receptionist desk when needed.
Travels to other locations when needed.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Certification in medical assistance accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES)
US Healthcare federal compliance certifications (e.
g.
, HIPAA compliant)
Preferred Skills & Experience
Knowledge of medical technology and techniques including knowing how to conduct necessary medical tests and educational techniques in instruction of patients
Proper spelling of medical terms and medications, with a general understanding of billing and coding
Medical insurance background required
Knowledge of organization policies, procedures, systems, and health care administration practices
Advanced computer skills.
Knowledge of computer systems and pharmacy applications (Pharmaserv, EPIC, Cardinal Health, OncoEMR, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.
)
Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type from draft copy, review and edit reports, and correspondence.
Ability to work professionally and effectively with staff, patients, public, external agencies
