The Ward/Unit Clerk is responsible for the daily operations of the Nurse's Station and assigned medical records duties.
The Ward/Unit Clerk also assists to keep the nurse station clean, in good working order, and promotes a home like atmosphere for the residents.
The Ward/Unit Clerk reports all relevant observations to the Licensed Staff assigned to the unit in a timely manner.
The Ward/Unit Clerk will work as CNA on floor as needed.
The Ward/Unit Clerk attends in-services and staff meetings as required.
Must have CNA certification.
*Responsibilities*
The Ward Clerk works with the Director of Nursing to assure the following responsibilities are accomplished.

1.
Checks appointment calendar and assure residents are ready for appointments including appropriate documents are prepared to transfer with resident.
2.
Assists with answering call lights and summon help to room.
3.
Answers facility phone and resident phone.
4.
Maintain resident out on pass book and inform respective nurses of times of departure and return for proper documentation.
5.
Notifies interdisciplinary staff of any resident who is out on pass or transferred to hospital.
Also, notify interdisciplinary staff of resident returns.
6.
Files lab reports on chart after nurse notified physician of results
7.
Completes laboratory requisition per nurse request.
8.
Files the signed physician order sheets on chart.
Verify that they are dated.
9.
Announces nourishments for nursing assistants to pick up at station in the morning and afternoon.
10.
Maintains orderly Nurse Station.
11.
Monitors and maintain supplies for Nurse's Station.
12.
Audits charts daily as assigned
13.
Follows appropriate infection control practices in working with the residents and equipment.
14.
Keeps Licensed Staff informed of pertinent information timely.
15.
Assists other staff members as needed throughout the shift.
Cooperates with other personnel to be sure residents are of prime importance to all members of the staff.
16.
Assists new staff members in orientation as needed throughout the shift.
17.
Maintains safe environment at all times, wiping up spills, working with housekeeping staff when available picking up articles as noted, etc.
18.
Reports immediately to supervisor situations involving abuse, neglect, or suspicion of a crime.
19.
Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Compliance Program, HIPPA Standard, and Computer Usage Agreement
